Butterfly Barn Studio came about in 2019 following my spinal cord injury. I was poorly for some time and recovering so I started crafting as it helps mental health and I was very bored stuck at home! I tried various crafts including watercolour painting but my passion was making candles. It was a long time of trial and error but eventually mastered the perfect clean burning, non smoking fragranced candle with a fabulous scent throw.

Then we went into lock-down so I continued with my new found passion, selling on Etsy and other platforms.

I wanted to share my newly acquired skills and I started to deliver workshops to share my love for everything crafting!

My work was getting popular and after we moved from Hampshire to Leicester I set up a new studio and as luck would have it I was walking though our village one Sunday afternoon I saw a little shop to let, I called the number and somewhat reluctantly thought I'll give it a go so my gift shop was born.

After just a few months my little shop is a thriving small business and many customers tell me it's an asset to the pretty village of Birstall in Leicester.
